WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF EMBOLIZATION IN ADENOMYOSIS?
Embolization has many advantages over other treatment options in adenomyosis:
It is effective. It has been demonstrated in recent studies that embolization successfully reduces or eliminates adenomyosis complaints in about three fourth of the patients.
Its success is durable. Studies have shown that the effect of embolization is not temporary. In the vast majority of the patients, the symptoms have not recurred after successful embolization.
Its success does not depend on the type, extention, size or visibility of adenomyosis. It has been shown that embolization can be effective in all types of adenomyosis.
It is minimally invasive. Embolization for adenomyosis is exactly the same procedure as embolization for fibroids (UFE); it is done through a 1-2mm puncture hole under local anesthesia using the angiography device.
